Description

RepairPro FC is a single component acrylic polymer modified cementitious fairing coat based on a blend of cements, graded aggregates, special fillers and chemical additives which requires only the site addition of clean water to produce a highly consistent cementitious trowellable fairing mortar for application in thin layers to produce a fair-faced appearance to concrete surfaces or masonry surfaces in readiness to receive a protective/decorative coating.

RepairPro FC is specially formulated to produce a shrinkage compensating mortar with no cracking, infill surface imperfections, fill pores, blowholes, voids or to render large sections of concrete, brickwork or masonry, when applied in a thin section between 0 to 3 mm thickness and can be filled with the scrape coat application. Under normal conditions, the product does not require an independent primer or curing membrane.

Additional Information

Applicable Standards/ Compliance: Packaging: Colours: Coverage/ Yield:

  • EN 1504-3 – Classified as R2 repair mortar
   20 kg bag Light Grey
  • Water to Powder Ratio: 31 to 32%
  • Yield: 13 liters of mortar/ 20 kg bag
  • Coverage: 4.25 m² per bag @ 3mm thickness.

* This coverage is theoretical & depends upon the surface profile of the substrate & the wastage

Typical Applications

  • Filling pinholes and blowholes on concrete surfaces prior to overcoating
  • Repair of damaged, debonded or weak concrete.
  • Repair of vertical and overhead surfaces.
  • For internal and external applications
  • General reprofiling over large areas, up to 3 mm depth
  • Can be used as a skim coat and as an aesthetic mortar
  • Smoothen out damaged patches on concrete surfaces due to shutter movement and grout loss
  • Fairing coat, in association with other RepairPro mortars and ShieldPro protective coatings
  • Surface leveling and blowhole filling for all concrete elements such as
  • Beams, columns, and walls in high rise buildings
  • Columns, Piers and cross beams on highway structures
  • Cooling towers and chimneys and other industrial structures

Benefits

  • Cost effective - no independent primer necessary
  • Time saving - curing not necessary
  • Thixotropic and can be used for vertical & over-head applications
  • Formulated for middle east hot climatic conditions
  • Requires only on site addition of water
  • Shrinkage compensated and crack resistant
  • Excellent adhesion to concrete
  • Easy to apply
  • Low permeability. Resistant to the attacks of chlorides and other mild chemicals
  • Contains no chloride admixtures
  • RepairPro FC exhibits excellent thermal compatibility with concrete and is fully compatible with other RepairPro mortars and ShiledPro protective coatings.

Substrate Preparation

Clean the concrete surface of all contaminants like oil and grease, traces of curing compound and loosely adhering particles, dust, unsound material, plaster, oil, paint, grease, corrosion deposits or algae. The cleaning can be done by sand/grit blasting, high pressure water jet or mechanical scabbling.

It is essential that the surfaces to be bonded are sound, clean and uncontaminated. Roughen the surface to remove any laitance and expose the fine aggregate by light scabbling or grit-blasting. All loose powdering material must be removed. Oil and grease deposits should be removed by steam cleaning, detergent scrubbing or the use of a proprietary degreaser. The cleaned areas should be blown clean with oil-free compressed air before continuing.

Product Preparation

Add 6 liters of clean water in the mixing bucket. Add full bag of RepairPro FC 03 powder slowly and mix continuously for approximately 3- 5 minutes until a smooth, creamy and lump free consistency is achieved. The water additions shall be a maximum of 6 L per 25 kg bag. Add water, if necessary, within the limits given (max 4 liters / bag), until the required consistency is achieved. Mix for a further 1-2 minutes. The amount of water required will be affected by ambient temperature and relative humidity. For additional anti-dusting, or enhanced performance properties, add 1 litres of BondPro SBR to the gauging water until the desired consistency is achieved.

Priming:

The prepared substrate should be thoroughly soaked, to a saturated but surface dry condition prior to application of the RepairPro FC 03, few hours ago, before applying the mix to minimize absorption. However, ensure that the surface is free of standing water prior to the application of the fairing coat.

Product Application

Product Application:

Apply the mixed RepairPro FC paste to the prepared substrate, up to 3 mm thickness, by steel trowel and scraped into substrate to fill all blowholes and minor surface defects. It should be applied with the minimum of working and be allowed to partly set before finally trowelling to a smooth finish.

Finishing:

If a very smooth finish is required, a small amount of water may be flicked on to the surface of the RepairPro FC with a paint brush prior to final trowelling. Any friable material may be removed by light sanding after the RepairPro FC has cured. The fairing coat shall be finished by striking off with a straight edge and closed with a steel or plastic float. Damp sponges or plastic floats may be used to achieve a desired surface texture, but care should again be taken not to overwork the surface. The final finishing shall be by steel float, damp sponge or with a plastic floats depending upon the finish required. RepairPro FC can be overcoated 24 hours after application.

Curing:

Curing is not generally required. However, under extreme conditions - high temperatures and drying winds - it may be prudent to use a single coat of BondPro Cure RB as a curing agent, which is compatible with most subsequent protective coatings and does not require mechanical removal prior to overcoating, or by covering the work with a properly secured plastic sheeting can be incorporated.

Cleaning:

Tools, equipment and mixers with clean water immediately after use (before hardening). Cured material can only be removed by mechanical means.

Others
  • Try to avoid application during the hottest times of the day, and in direct sunlight.
  • Try to avoid application during the hottest times of the day, and in direct sunlight.
  • The product can be used when the ambient temperature is between 5-50°C. In hot weather use cold water to bring the mixed material temperature to <30°C.
  • The product should not be used when the temperature is below 5°C and falling. In cold weather use warm water to raise the mixed material temperature to >10°C.
