Description

RepairPro EP FCB is a two-component thixotropic, solvent-free, repair putty and mortar for concrete surfaces. The compound is based upon epoxy resins, graded fillers, and thixotropic agents. It is applied directly to concrete substrates without the use of a primer, and cures to a surface ready for over coating. The epoxy putty consists of graded fillers and non-sagging agents which makes it ideal for application on vertical surfaces. It is designed for filling blow holes and irregularities prior to the application of subsequent coatings.

It is fast curing material ideal for a variety of bedding, gap filling and concrete repair applications and can be applied in thickness of greater than 3mm up to 5 mm

Additional Information

Applicable Standards/ Compliance: Packaging: Colours: Coverage/ Yield:
5kg and 10 kg unit Grey Coverage: 1.6 kg/ m² @ 1mm thickness* Coverage is wholly dependent upon surface conditions; site trials are therefore recommended ed to ascertain actual usage on uneven substrates.

Typical Applications

  • For minor imperfections, surface defects and general reprofiling in concrete surfaces over large areas, up to 5 mm depth.
  • Filling pinholes and blow holes prior to overcoating
  • Sealing of surface cracks, spalls and in preparation for
  • crack injection.
  • As a skim coat/filler on prepared floors prior to application of finish coatings and screeds
  • As Concrete repair: Repairing damaged concrete, crack filling, leak proofing on horizontal, vertical and overhead surface
  • Cost effective - reduces usage of subsequent coatings
  • User friendly - easy to apply by either trowel, spatula or knife and finish, manufactured to meet local conditions.
  • As jointing compound: Can be used to join Precast concrete/GRC structures
  • As a bonding agent: It bonds to almost all rigid surfaces.
  • As a mould: It can be moulded to any shape.
  • Bedding bridge beams or steel bridge bearings
  • Fixing slip bricks to concrete
  • Securing bolts into walls
  • Dowel bars anchoring
  • As a gap filling adhesive
  • Filling bolt pockets
  • Bedding tiles
  • Repairing concrete posts in-situ
  • For gap filling, grouting, bedding fixtures etc.
  • Corners and joints edges repair

Benefits

  • Very good adhesion to most construction materials
  • High strength
  • Thixotropic: non-sag in vertical and overhead applications
  • It cures to give high mechanical properties typical of epoxy compounds
  • Hardens without shrinkage
  • No primer needed
  • High initial and ultimate mechanical strength and impact resistance
  • Good abrasion resistance
  • Impermeable to liquids and water vapour
  • Good chemical resistance
  • Good resistance to acids, alkalis, hydrocarbon fuels, oil and grease, solvents and sea water
  • Creamy consistency, easy to use and can be trowelled to a smooth finish

Substrate Preparation

Clean the concrete surface of all loose particles, laitance, dust, oil, grease, paint etc. Old surface treatments or coatings and all loose or friable particles must be removed to achieve a laitance and contaminant free, open textured surface. Grit/captive blasting and mechanical grinding of the concrete floor is recommended for removing all surface contaminants. All blow holes should be ‘opened up’ to avoid the creation of air pockets. This is best achieved by sandblasting or mechanical wire brushing, as necessary

Product Preparation

RepairPro EP FCB shall be mixed thoroughly using a proprietary paddle mixer fitted to a slow speed drill (300-400 rpm) till a uniform colour and consistency is achieved. It is recommended to mix an entire kit at a time. However, for small repairs, part mixing can be done provided both the parts are accurately measured by weight. Care should be taken to ensure that RepairPro EP FCB is thoroughly mixed to produce a fully homogeneous paste. The ‘hardener’ and ‘base’ components should always be stirred thoroughly in order to disperse any settlement before mixing them together. The two components should be mixed together in a 1:1 ratio, by volume, until a uniform consistency and grey colour is achieved.

Product Application

Once Product preparation has been done application can be carried out by a steel trowel or putty knife or scraper. After mixing, material can be taken directly from the can, or subdivided onto spot boards for individual applicators. Press firmly the mixed mortar into the area to be filled to ensure proper adhesion and full contact. The epoxy putty shall be applied at a maximum thickness of 5mm in one layer. The area repaired with RepairPro EP FCB can be over-coated with any epoxy or polyurethane coating after it achieves its initial cure minimum curing period of 24 hours is normally required. Prior to overcoating, the fully cured surface should be dust-free.

Others

Cleaning:
Remove the uncured product from tools and equipment using a suitable thinner or chemical cleaner immediately after use. Hardened material can only be removed mechanically.

Recommendations:

  • Try to avoid application during the hottest times of the day, and in direct sunlight.
  • Do not apply the product on substrates with rising damp if they are going to be coated with an epoxy or polyurethane system.
  • Do not dilute the product with solvent or water.
  • Do not apply the product on dusty, crumbling or weak substrates.
  • Do not mix partial quantities of the components to avoid mixing errors; the product may not harden correctly.
  • Do not expose the mixed product to sources of heat.
  • The product should not be exposed to moving water during application or prior to initial set. (at least 24 hours after application)
  • Do not apply the product directly on substrates with moisture content higher than 4% and/or with capillary rising damp
  • The temperature of the substrate must be at least 3°C higher than the dew-point temperature.
  • Higher temperatures reduce, lower temperatures increase the processing time.
  • Only full units of the product shall be mixed by mechanical means.
  • Mix only sufficient material that can be applied using available labour and equipment to ensure a continuous and uninterrupted application
