Description

PlasterPro Rushbond is a single component high quality Portland cement, carefully selected processed natural mineral aggregates, excellent binding powder polymer and very special chemical additives for performance enhancements and is used as a mechanical key coat on concrete substrates before rendering. It improves adhesion of plaster / cement render, applied on masonry block and concrete.

It can be applied using a Tyrolean box/spray hopper/powder pattern spray gun.

Typical Applications

PlasterPro Rushbond is used for providing a mechanical key on AAC (Autoclaved Aerated Concrete) blocks, clay, bricks or concrete substrate, dense concretes containing micro silica, GGBS  (Ground Granulated Blast-furnace Slag) and fly ash, prior to plastering for subsequent layers of plaster and renders. The product can be applied on any sound concrete element in the building

Benefits

  • Pre-mixed ready to use to avoid site mixing errors.
  • Ideal for internal and external application.
  • Suitable for a wide range of concrete and masonry substrates.
  • Quality controlled factory blended to provide consistent finish.
  • Aggregate grading increases workability and provides for optimum quality finish.
  • Excellent strength and adhesion.
  • Suitable for hot weather.
  • Excellent workability

Substrate Preparation

The substrate must be laitance free, clean, rough and free from dirt, oil, grease or other contaminants and loose or friable particles. Absorbent surfaces should be saturated thoroughly with clean water. As such, spray/ saturate surface with water before applying the PlasterPro Rushbond coat to minimize absorption. In other words, the substrate must be in Saturated Surface Dry (SSD) condition prior to application of product.

Delaminated, weak, damaged and deteriorated concrete where necessary should be removed to sound base by suitable means. For any repairs of the substrate, materials from RepairPro range should be used, and applied at least 24 hours before. Consult NORTH Technical Department for further advice

Product Preparation
  • Add PlasterPro Block Grip bag of 50 kg into a container of 10 litre of clean water.
  • Mix until a uniform lump free consistency mix achieved.
  • Leave the mix to stand for 5 minutes and remix before uses, without adding any extra quantity of water.
  • Use low speed mechanical mixer (200-300 rpm) with a suitable mixing paddle to achieve desired consistency.
  • Allow product to set for 5 minutes and remix before use, without adding any extra quantity of water.
  • The mixture remains workable for one hour after mixing at 25°C.
Product Application

PlasterPro Rushbond BL Coat is best applied on to the prepared substrate using a tyrolean box or suitable spraying equipment. Apply on entire prepared area and allow time for the material to stiffen. Ensure that the applied material covers the entire surface area by doing uniform application. A rough texture is to be obtained to provide a mechanical key for the subsequent coat of plaster.

PlasterPro Rushbond BL should be applied in a total thickness of 2-3mm, ensure that wet mix covers the entire surface area. Cure the applied coat with water for minimum 3 days
