Description

AquaShieldPro SBR70 is a ready to use, quick drying, one component, solvent free, light blue, synthetic resin, flexible liquid membrane for internal and external applications. The cured membrane provides a breathable and waterproof elastomeric barrier with crack bridging properties.

Additional Information

Packaging: Colours: Coverage/ Yield:
15 kg unit Light Blue  Yield: 11.50 liters / 15 kg unit Coverage: 0.5 kg/m² per coat (2 coats recommended)* Actual coverage will depend on wastage and surface profile and can be up to 20% or more higher than theoretical coverage.

Typical Applications

For wet area waterproofing (under-tile) in

  • Bathrooms and kitchens
  • Balconies and terraces
  • Laundry rooms
  • Saunas and damp environment in general

AquaShieldPro SBR70 may be applied on:

  • Concrete
  • Cementitious screeds
  • Plasterboard (for internal applications only)
  • Cementitious render.

Benefits

  • One-component - ready to use
  • Rapid drying
  • Resists rainwater 1 hour after applying the first coat and 3 hours after applying the second coat.
  • Ceramic may be bonded after 4 hours (at +25°C and 50% R.H. when applied on a dry screed with less than 3% residual moisture).
  • Highly elastic and crack-bridging capacity without reinforcement.
  • Seamless waterproof membrane system.
  • Can be used vertical and horizontal
  • Easily recoated when needed - no stripping required
  • Low VOC emitting  water-based coating
  • Excellent adhesion on porous and non-porous substrates
  • Water vapour permeable - Breathability allows release of trapped moisture.

Substrate Preparation

All surfaces should be clean, sound, dry, well cured with no rising dampness and free from grease, oils, curing membranes, laitance and any loose particles. Surfaces should be slightly rough and any laitance removed by wire brushing or water jetting.

Before applying AquaShieldPro SBR70, pay particular attention to expansion joints and fillet joints between horizontal and vertical surfaces. Structural joints must be waterproofed with apply a suitable elastomeric joint band bonded in place with RepairPro EP FC.

Product Preparation

AquashieldPro SBR 70 is a single component but stirring of the pail is recommended prior to the application of the coating. This will remove any sediment which may occur during storage. The use of a slow speed drill and suitable paddle should be used in order to avoid the formation of air bubbles.

Product Application

Apply the product in two even, coats (approx. 0.5 kg or 0.4mm per coat) with a long-haired roller, brush or trowel on horizontal, vertical and sloping surfaces.. Two coats are recommended. The first coat should dry (see recoat times) before the second coat is applied diagonally to first coat.

Once the membrane is dry, further trades can commence If AquaShieldPro SBR70 is applied to form an anti-fracture membrane on cracked substrates, we recommend inserting reinforcement mesh in to the first coat while it is still fresh. The mesh must be pressed down with a bubble-breaker roller on the first coat of AquaShieldPro SBR70 while it is still fresh. Wait until the first coat is dry then apply the second coat in order to completely embed the mesh. Drying times may increase as the use of the mesh insertion increases the final thickness of the applied film. . The final thickness of the two coats of AquaShieldPro SBR must be at least 0.80 mm in order to create a robust, flexible and continuous film.

Others

Cleaning:

Tools, equipment and mixers with clean water immediately after use (before hardening) using soapy water. Cured material can be removed mechanically.

Protection:

Protect floors to withstand light foot traffic for at least 24 hours after installation. Stepping boards may be used after 24 hours when occasional stepping on the floor is unavoidable
