Description

AquaShieldPro PU Membrane is a high performance, high build, solvent-free, durable, UV polyurethane two-component, cold-applied, crack-bridging, protective and waterproof liquid membrane, designed for to provide an added level of protection for new and existing structures.

When used in exposed situations, to significantly enhance the durability of reinforced concrete AquaShieldPro PU Membrane must be top coated with a UV-resistant Polyurethane coating AquaShieldPro PU Topcoat

Substrate Preparation

Ensure that substrates are correctly prepared prior to application. New concrete structures need to dry for at least 28 days and maximum moisture content shall be less than 5%. The compressive strength of the concrete substrate must be at least 25 N/mm² and its tensile cohesive bond strength must be at least 1.5 N/ mm². The substrate must be structurally sound free and free of any contamination, which may otherwise adversely affect the adhesion of the membrane.

Surfaces must be entirely free of oil, grease, paint, corrosion deposits, dust, laitance, curing compound residues or other surface deposits. Loose friable material and weak concrete must be completely removed by mechanical means to achieve an open textured surface and all surface defects such as blowholes and voids must be fully exposed. Repairs to the substrate, filling of joints, blowholes/voids and surface leveling must be carried out using the appropriate repair products from RepairPro Range. Refer to North’s Technical Department for further advice.

Product Preparation

Pour and drain the full contents of the hardener container into the base container and mix thoroughly with a slow speed electric stirrer fitted with an appropriate paddle (300-400 rpm), for a minimum of 3 minutes until homogeneous

Product Application

Spread immediately onto the substrate at the required coverage rate. For best results, apply with a notched trowel or squeegee. Back-rolling with a short haired or spiked roller is advisable. An optional mesh can also be incorporated by laying a geo-textile mat (between 100 and 180 g/m²) on top of the wet layer of AquaShieldPro Pro PU Membrane. By pressing in and roll flat with a roller to fully saturate the geotextile mat. All lap joints in the geotextile mat reinforcement should be minimum 50mm. Immediately after this, pour again the mixture on the geotextile mat and spread with a roller or brush until full saturation. It is advisable that second layer of the AquaShieldPro Pro PU Membrane should be applied after 12-18 hours (not later than 48 hours).

Others

Cleaning:

Remove uncured product from tools and equipment using a suitable thinner immediately after use. Once hardened, the product may only be removed mechanically.

Protection:

Protect floors to withstand light foot traffic for at least 24 hours after installation. Stepping boards may be used after 24 hours when occasional stepping on the floor is unavoidable.

Storage & Shelf Life:

12 months from manufacturing date in original & unopen packaging, under cover, in dry condition, away from humidity, protected from extreme temperatures, rainfall and direct sunlight
