Saturate concrete surfaces with clean water whilst still visibly damp, but free of standing water, apply, using a short, stiff bristle brush or roller. Trowel application can be undertaken as necessary. For heavy 6-10 mm depressions, honeycombs, etc. use less gauging liquid and mix to the desired consistency. The first coat should be applied at a minimum thickness of 1mm (approximate coverage is 1.6kg/m²) and should be well brushed into the surface. Application may also be made by roller; however, it is recommended to finish the surface with a trowel for best results. It is recommended, for general resurfacing, that each coat should be a minimum of 1 mm thick. Wait until the first layer is dry before applying subsequent layers. Pre-dampening of the surface is not necessary when applying the second coat. The application shall cover the whole surface of the substrate in a uniform thickness.
Apply AquaSieldPro CW 21 by:
- spatula/roller: Exerting good and even pressure onto the substrate.
- brush: In 2 directions (diagonally opposite/crosswise).
- mechanical spray: recommended for large areas
Curing and Protection:
In order to protect AquaShieldPro CW 21 against any damage caused by e.g backfilling or traffic, it must be protected using either a cementitious screed or protection boards. A separation sheet can be laid under the protection layer if necessary, to avoid any bonding to the membrane.
Tiling or finished flooring installations should be carried out as soon as possible after a full cure of the membrane is established. Under hot or excessive drying conditions adequate protective shielding should be foreseen.
In cold, humid, or unventilated areas it may be necessary to leave the application for a longer curing period. AquaShieldPro CW 21 needs to cure under dry-air conditions. Additional heating and/or ventilation can assist in proper curing. NEVER use dehumidifiers during curing periods.
