All surfaces should be clean, sound, dry, well cured with no rising dampness and free from grease, oils, curing membranes, laitance and any loose particles. Cracks, voids and honeycombs in concrete surfaces must be repaired with suitable RepairPro product range. All the patched area to cure before applying the membrane. All metal surfaces should be made clean of paint, oils, rust and other contaminants. Abrade to expose bright metal then wipe clean the surface prior to priming.

Description
AquaShieldPro BPU is a liquid-applied, one-component, bitumen-modified, water-based, flexible polyurethane coating to form a seamless, elastomeric waterproofing membrane. It is applied brush or trowel and is suitable for use in tropical and hot climatic conditions
Additional Information
Typical Applications
- For internal & external use
- For horizontal & vertical applications
- For use as a waterproofing membrane underneath hard landscaping on podium areas
- Substructure foundations as a damp-proofing solution
- Waterproofing of bathrooms, showers, foundation walls, terraces, balconies, swimming pools before the application of ceramic tiles bonded with adhesives
- Waterproofing of external concrete wall surfaces to be backfilled in ground.
Benefits
- One-component - ready to use
- Cold applied - requires no heat or flame
- High elastic and crack-bridging
- Excellent adhesion on porous and non-porous substrates including concrete, cement mortars, stone, masonry and a wide range of construction materials
- Excellent workability.
- Good sag resistance and easy to apply, even on vertical surfaces
- Easy to repair
- Provides a continuous, seamless waterproofing membrane.
- Durable, low maintenance costs, easy to repair
- Easily applied by brush, roller, squeegee or airless spray
- Specially formulated for use in Middle East conditions.
The product can be mixed a low speed (300-500 rpm) hand drill mixer, to ensure homogenous product. Once a homogeneous mix is obtained, continue mixing for 3–4 min.
AquaSieldPro BPU should be applied by brush, roller, and trowel in two coats to achieve a minimum dry film thickness of 1.0 mm in two coats. The first coat should dry (see recoat times) before the second coat is applied diagonally to the first coat.
All connections between the substrate and pipe entries, plant and equipment, light switches, etc., must be sealed and watertight. Joints in concrete, pipes, or anywhere else in the structure must also be sealed and made watertight. Use coved details at the floor/wall junctions.
- Try to avoid application during the hottest times of the day, and in direct sunlight.
- The product should not be exposed to moving water during application or prior to initial set.
- AquaShieldPro BPU may be flood tested after it’s fully cured using 50mm depth of water for a period of 24 hours
- Do not apply tile adhesives to AquaShieldPro BPU membrane whilst the membrane is still uncured. To provide a good key with the membrane, spread the final wet coat of AquaSieldPro BPU with sufficient clean silica sand.
- Ensure that each coat of AquaShieldPro BPU is totally dry and the surface is without pinholes before applying further coats.
- AquaShieldPro BPU is not suitable for permanent water immersion.
- Concrete should be cured for at least 28 days and should have a pull-off strength > 1.5 N/mm²
- Protect the system immediately after completion of installation works to prevent any damages.
- AquaShieldPro BPU is not resistant to permanent UV exposure and weathering. It must always be protec- ted against UV exposure within a defined period of time, 21 days maximum.
- Setting time can be influenced by high relative humidity, particularly in basements or closed rooms. The use of adequate ventilation is recommended.
- Protect from rain for at least 24-48 hours after application. Avoid application in direct sunlight and when rain is imminent or in strong winds
- The substrate moisture content must be ≤ 5% moisture content, no rising moisture
